Hi folks! Hope you like classic choppers like I do. If that’s the case, you must take a look at this custom project. Enjoy this wonderful custom classic-style chopper that was created from M72 motorcycle.
As I’ve already mentioned in the article about the Dusty (a custom bobber M72), it’s a legendary motorcycle in the ex-soviet countries, it’s pretty rare and custom M72 are even more rare. And I guess that’s why the author of this custom project took an M72 motorcycle as a basis.
The first thing that caught my eye was the rear part of the frame. These smooth curves (nope, I’m not talking about the girl from the photos, yet I do like her curved a lot as well) were definitely custom made. The engine seems to be original, except the carburetors, which beyond doubt have automotive origin, and the starter. A kick-starter was removed from the bike at all. Taking into account the usage of a starter, I can tell you for sure that the author also had to replace the generator and the ignition system to install 12V electrical system on the motorcycle (standard M72 have 6V electrical system).
When I saw the Irbit Mirage for the first time, I got a feeling that there was something strange about it, but I couldn’t figure out what exactly, but then I finally noticed what it was: the sizes of the wheels. I’m not sure about their diameters, but the front wheel is undoubtedly smaller than the rear one. Don’t know how about you, but personally I have seen only few motorcycles with this feature so far.
The handlebar is pretty stylish and absolutely fits the design, but what I like about it the most is that all the wiring and cables are hidden. The levers were made specifically for this project as well.
I can’t but point your attention to the sidecar that was also created for this custom chopper. It looks really nice and 100% fit the general design, but this is definitely not the sidecar you would like to ride in if you value your lives 🙂
And the last thing I would like to mention is the aerography. There are some customs that can be spoiled with aerography, because their design will drastically change if even the most sophisticated aerography is added. Yet, this is not the case. Aerography here is what makes the design of this custom M72 bike complete. Without it the motorcycle would look less catchy and unusual.
Hope you like the Irbit Mirage as well as other custom Cossack motorcycles that I regularly write about. I would love to hear your thoughts regarding this chopper in the comment section below.
